FWI September Meeting: A Woman's Touch

The September Fulham WI meeting will take place on Monday, 3^rd September at 7.30pm, upstairs room at THE PETERBOROUGH (formerly the Southern Cross) on the New King’s Road (at the bottom of Wandsworth Bridge Road and opposite Eel Brook Common).

is about 10mins walk from Fulham Broadway tube and about 15 mins walk from Parsons Green Tube. The No 22 bus stops right outside and there are also the 295 and 28 Buses stopping just around the corner on the

Wandsworth Bridge Road

Kerrie Keeling at A Woman’s Touch (www.awomanstouch.org.uk ):

Kerrie Keeling founded A Woman’s Touch (www.awomanstouch.org.uk) in 2003 after bad experiences with tradesmen.  The mainly female team offers an array of property maintenance and building services throughout the South East of England.   Kerrie is going to talk about the background of the company, some of the trials and tribulations of being a woman in such a male dominated environment, and will also be happy to help with any specific questions or concerns regarding members own DIY issues.

Drinks!!!!:

The FWI would like to invite you to a few drinks after the meeting – purely to have a catch-up and get to know you session. Please come and join us for a glass of vino!

BBC Proms In the Park – Saturday 8th September:

Hospital

of Neuro-disability – Need Volunteers:

Last year’s Ball charity the Royal Hospital of Neuro-disability is looking for volunteers to help at certain events over the weekend, particularly at the performance at St Mary's Church and they wondered if any for the ladies at the Fulham WI would be interested in helping them.

You would be required to be there on Saturday 29 September from 6pm - 10pm. They need people to sell programmes, serve champagne and show people to their seats. They are looking for a team of 10 people. Anyone helping would be given a free ticket to the performance and a free t-shirt to wear on the evening.

Chutney Making Day – Saturday 13th October:

Due to the success of our jam making day a couple of years ago, we are now holding a chutney making event on 13th October.  This will take place at

Cross

School

in New Malden between 10am and 2.30pm.

The cost of the day is £10 plus the cost of materials which will be provided at cost (ie 20p for jars etc).  There is a maximum of 16 places for this event, so if you would like to secure a place please bring your cheques for £10 to the next WI meeting or send to Joanna Hackett at

SW10 9EP.  The places will be offered on a first paid first served basis and if it proves very popular we can run another day.  Attendees will have to make their own way on New Malden.

I hope this proves a popular event and a chance to learn another good old fashioned WI skill!

Tickets will be going on sale/reservation at the September meeting at £60 per person. This will include reception drinks, 3-course meal, ½ bottle of wine per person on table, raffle, disco, play-casino and live entertainment. Proceeds will go to the Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation.
