What is Denman College?
Denman College is the WI's own Residential Adult Education College near Oxford, and was named after the first NFWI Chairman, Lady Denman. It is a graceful Georgian house, set in 17 acres of beautiful grounds. Most of the money needed to buy, develop and maintain the College over the years has been raised by the WI. Our rich variety of courses last for 2, 3 or 4 days.
Who can attend?
Denman College is open to everyone, not only WI members. Students of all ages are welcome at the College, however in line with the College's Policy children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.
How do I apply?
Use this site to browse our course programme and to book your chosen course online. The information section contains details of the history of the College, how to find us, our terms and conditions, etc.
What does the cost include?
Resident students: your fee includes your tuition costs, all your food and accommodation. Non-resident students: your fee includes your tuition costs and all meals. Some courses carry an extra charge for equipment etc., details are circulated with the course agendas six weeks before courses begins.
How do I get to Denman College?
If you drive, parking is available on site. If you travel by train or coach Denman will arrange a taxi to collect students from either Oxford or Didcot Parkway train stations or Oxford's 'Gloucester Green' Coach station and bring you to the College.
What accommodation is available?
Most of the bedrooms are either single, single en suite, and we have some twins and triples for those who wish to share. All bedrooms are centrally heated and have tea/coffee-making facilities. Two twin bedded rooms have been especially adapted for those with physical disabilities and their carers. Most bedrooms are lovingly maintained by the various County and Island Federations, which gives a unique feel to each room. The elegant public rooms give everyone the welcome chance to relax and make friends. Up to 72 students can stay at Denman at any one time.
What if I have to cancel?
Insurance is not compulsory but it is the only way of ensuring that your money is refunded if you cannot attend your course. Please read the College cancellation policy and consider taking out cancellation insurance.
What is a Small Group Booking?
Subject to space, groups of 10 students or more may apply to make block bookings for customised events, for example training workshops or courses of their own choice. For details contact Amanda Roach for special rate.
Can I stay at the College without doing a course?
If you are interested in staying at the College for either bed and breakfast, private study or as a base to explore the area you will be most welcome. Bookings cannot be taken more than six weeks in advance. Price on application
